Grandma April Yardley's Baked Ham

Grandma April was a very special lady. She has been gone nearly two years now and I am so glad I have a few of her good recipes. Christmas Eve dinner is a fun place to be at our house. It is always centered around a ham dinner and we love April's recipe.

1 large Cook's butt or shank ham uncooked

First:
Put ham in a roaster bag like the kind you put a turkey in.
Put pineapple rings all around the ham.

In a bowl, pour in some maple syrup. She uses Mrs. Butterworth's. She says she uses quite a bit but I don't know how much that is. (It must be Grandma April's secret) I use 2-3 cups. Whisk it with quite a bit of brown sugar (if you know what I mean.) Pour all over the ham. Fasten the cooking bag real tight but make a few slits in the very top so the steam can escape.

Put about 3 cups of water in the bottom of the roaster oven. Put the ham in and bake at 300 degrees long and slow. Grandma April cooks it all night. Turn down to 250 degrees and cook until time to eat. It was the best ham I ever tasted. If you were going to eat it in the evening. You could put it in early in the morning and cook until about 4 o'clock on 300 and then turn it down to 250 degrees. Happy eating.

Thank you for posting this recipe of Grandma Aprils ham. There is no better! I am going to try and cook this for Christmas this year. I am going to try the pecan crunch tomorrow. Hopefully I don't mess it up. I love you!!
